Back to where it all began. Our story starts in 1995, in Bosnia — a country torn apart by the Balkan War. There, in a shelter in Mostar, we saw children who could connect with music to briefly forget their fear and sadness. Their resilience was our inspiration. Now, 30 years later, we provide mental health support to children growing up in conflict around the world.
Tragically, this support is needed more than ever. As violence around the world continues to rise, it’s children who are hit the hardest. And although we can't end a war, we certainly can do something. And you can too!
The challenge: Before your journey begins, we challenge you to raise €1,995 in sponsorship. This amount represents the founding year of War Child. You won’t do this alone — we’ll help you with your own action page and lots of inspiring tips for successful fundraising and how to best approach your network.
Total travel package: This eight-day trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina is exclusively organized for War Child by SNP Natuurreizen, the leading adventure travel agency in the Netherlands. Flights are to be booked and paid for on an individual basis, but all your accommodations, meals, and special local guides are covered. The travel price is €1.690 and further details can be found on SNP’s website.

Why fundraise? You don't just become a Trailmaker for yourself, but for the millions of children who grow up with the consequences of war. Thanks in part to the efforts of all Trailmakers, we can offer these children mental support, so that they regain confidence in themselves and their future.
Is fundraising difficult? Certainly not. Just look at Frank & Maria who had something to celebrate, Arcus who organised a football tournament or these Peacemakers who sold bracelets. If they can do it, you can too! And did you know that for €10 you can help one child for a whole month? So every euro you raise counts.
Of course, we will continue to inspire and support you with action tips, materials and a good dose of energy. We will make sure that you travel to Bosnia with a warm heart for War Child!
