Your Challenge

The Programme Partnership and Grants (2PG) department contributes to War Child’s mission and ambitions set in the Global Strategy, by expanding War Child’s funding and partnership portfolio, providing expert knowledge and strengthening the capacity of the organisation in regards to programme partnerships, fundraising and donor relations, grant management and meeting or exceeding internal & external minimum standards. The 2PG team consists of a range of donor, quality assurance, compliance, partnerships, bid management and proposal development specialists. The 2PG department has 4 teams: Foundations Account Management (FAM); Institutional Account Management (IAM); Quality Assurance (QA) and Partnerships & Programme Development (PPD).

As Team Leader Quality Assurance you are responsible for leading the Quality Assurance team, composed of Data Analyst. Learning & Development Specialist and Quality Assurance Officer. The main tasks of this team are to assure quality of grant management process through maintaining expertise on donor regulations and rules, conducting donor risk and opportunity assessments, establishing grant data quality and compliance support mechanisms​; optimize work processes through review of policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, methods and ensuring rational and efficient processes;

steer and support strategic fundraising efforts through monitoring and analysis of accurate and reliable data to inform management decisions; support learning and development through lessons learned from proposal submissions and reports evaluation, sharing knowledge about donors and donor requirements, roll-out and implementation support for 2PG policies, procedures and tools, learning webinars​.

Team Leader Quality Assurance is part of the Programme Partnership and Grants team and reports to the Manager of this department. Team Leader Quality Assurance collaborates closely with country offices/regions, 2PG+ team, Directors of global programmes and other relevant departments in the European countries/offices. This role is stationed in our Amsterdam office (successful candidate needs to be eligible to work in the Netherlands).

Your responsibilities

  • Advise and support the organization in meeting and exceeding its institutional donor funding target
  • Deliver professional services to optimize institutional donor funding, partnership development, cooperation and increase the quality of War Child Holland income
  • Strengthen the capacity of the organisation in grant management and compliance
  • Engage with relevant networks, partners and stakeholders
  • Lead Quality Assurance team.

Your Profile

  • University degree in international law, management, development/international studies or related fields
  • Field experience in humanitarian or development work
  • Work experience in the area of grant compliance with institutional donors with at minimum grant management experience in European Commission and one other large donor (USAID, DFID, SIDA, UNICEF)
  • Experience in team management
  • Experience in capacity strengthening and learning trajectories
  • Demonstrated donor expertise (donor contracts and related regulations and procedures), at least the EU and one other large donor (Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, USAID, UNHCR, UNICEF)
  • Knowledge and understanding of (institutional) donor networks
  • Knowledge of humanitarian aid or development work
  • Writing skills in English and preferably Dutch, French and/or Spanish
  • Good relation building skills, diplomatic skills and strong in building and maintaining networks
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and eye for detail
  • Willing and able to travel to War Child programming areas
  • Affinity with War Child’s mandate, values and mission
  • EU citizen/resident or in possession of Dutch working permit
  • Available 32-40 hours per week.

Our offer

  • Salary range from € 3.535 – 4.664 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact step determined by the years of your relevant working experience)
  • 28 vacation days on full time basis (consisting of 26 vacation days plus 2 additional fixed free days, based on 40 hours work week)
