Grant Management Specialist Research & Development
As Grant Management Specialist you are responsible for networking and relationship building with potential and current donors and partners, identifying grant opportunities, providing pro-active support to relevant teams in proposal development, grant management and compliance, as well as liaison at the Amsterdam office – all within your portfolio Research & Development R&D. You act as a focal point for specialist knowledge of this portfolio, working to increase funding and positioning for it.
The Grant Management Specialist is part of the Programme Partnerships and Grants Department and reports to the department's Manager.
- Identify the priorities and needs for fundraising and partnerships
- Establish, build up and maintain a network of contacts and partnership relations
- Develop a network with potential R&D donors in close collaboration with specific account managers
- Visit or receive relations, evaluate partnerships, signal points for extension or improvement of the cooperation and realize these
- Ensure the relevant information flow between relations within own portfolio/accounts and War Child with regards to new projects, ambitions, donor requests, upcoming funding, advocacy and partnership opportunities as well as new trends within the humanitarian and development sector
- Represent the organisation in various internal and external meetings
- Develop specific strategies for the accounts within R&D portfolio and translate those into acquisition plans for own portfolio aligning them with internal stakeholders
- Income growth: advise and support the organisation in meeting and exceeding its R&D donor funding target and pro-actively identify grant (funding) opportunities, lead or support the development of grant proposals from start to submission, including proposal writing
- Facilitate the review and approval process of donor and partner contracts, proposals and reports
- Support competency building to relevant War Child departments, country and regional offices and partners, on donor requirements, project applications and project management (including compliance)
- University degree in International Economics, Management, Development/International studies or related field
- At least 5 years of field experience in humanitarian or development work
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in fundraising with institutional donors and grant/account management
- Demonstrated experience on grant compliance for at least two of the following donors: Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission, ECHO, SIDA, DFID, USG (including USAID) and/or UN agencies
- Knowledge of humanitarian settings, war affected emergency, post-emergency or developing countries, and preferable humanitarian innovation
- Excellent writing skills in English and at least one of the following languages: French, Arabic, Spanish and/or Dutch
- Proven track record in design and writing of winning technical programs responding to grant solicitations in a limited amount of time
- Excellent relation building skills, diplomatic skills and you are strong in building and maintaining networks
- Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail
- Result-oriented and determined, able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
- Ability to deal effectively in various cultural and war affected contexts
- Willing and able to travel to War Child country programmes
- Available on short notice for 32 to 40 hours per week, starting September 2019
- EU national or eligible to live and work in EU.
- Salary range from €3193 – €4130 gross per month, based on 40 hours per week (the exact step determined by the years of your relevant working experience)
- 26 vacation days (based on 40 hours per week), plus 2 additional free days
