Regional Fundraiser Advisor
Organization: War Child Holland
Job Location: Kampala, Uganda
Starting date: 1 June 2010
As Regional Fundraising Advisor you are responsible for capacity building in (local) institutional fundraising in the (post)conflict areas in Africa where War Child Holland (WCH) works. You will be based in Kampala, Uganda with regular travel to project areas within Uganda and in the region including DRC, Burundi and Sudan and upon request to other regions.
Your tasks
• Identify potential institutional donor funding through active networking, research and monitoring;
• Represent War Child in external relations with potential donors and donor networks;
• Developing concept notes, proposals and expression of interests in line with War Child’s strategic plans;
• Develop, implement and evaluate action-oriented country fundraising strategies that identify current and potential funding for WCH’s work in the fields of education, child protection and psychosocial support in the target countries;
• Develop and maintain a network of donor organisations;
• Identify and inform senior management on possible risks related to donor funded projects and contracts management;
• Provide support in writing financial and narrative reports;
• Ensure that institutional donor funded projects and programmes comply with donor requirements through briefing of staff and continuous monitoring and evaluation;
• Develop and disseminate effective external grants management systems, including tools to assist program staff in budget tracking, project monitoring, activity planning and procurement in line with donor requirements.
Your profile
• Graduate degree, preferably in international relations or a social science field;
• A minimum of three years work experience in development or conflict settings, preferably in Africa;
• Knowledge and understanding of institutional donors and donor networks;
• Familiarity with different USG, UN and European donor formats, guidelines, and requirements;
• Experience in institutional fundraising (proven track record);
• Experience in training and capacity building;
• Knowledge and understanding of financial systems;
• Excellent written communication skills in English;
• Proficiency in written and spoken French would be a considerable advantage;
• Advisory, planning and organisational skills;
• Ability to assess relations and to act in a diplomatic, tactical way;
• Result oriented.
